Iowa by the Numbers

KCCI (Research 2000) poll was released tonight showing movement in the right direction for our campaign! We're nine months from Election Day and Roxanne is already giving Chuck Grassley the closest race he's had in 30 years.

It shows that as Iowans start asking questions like, where have our jobs gone? They are realizing Sen. Grassley voted five times to give tax breaks to companies shipping jobs overseas. It shows as Iowans start wondering how we got into this economic mess they remember the bad policy decisions of Sen Grassley - creating $1.7 trillion in debt by passing the Bush tax cuts favoring the wealthy, writing the legendary "bridge to nowhere" pork bill, creating the Medicare donut hole and handing out $400 billion to prescription drug companies.

People are starting to learn Roxanne's story and how she went to work at 14 to help put food on her family's table. She worked multiple jobs while putting herself through college and law school and dedicated her career to helping others. She's battled special interests time and time again, like when she stood up to banks during the farm crisis, battled government corruption as an Assistant Attorney General and locked up drug dealers as a US Attorney. Voters are connecting with Roxanne because she understands firsthand what they are going through. She's been cold, broke, and uninsured. She'll never forget the anxiety or stress unemployment causes on a family because she lived it.

Here are some important numbers people should look at in the U.S. Senate:

104,100 - The voter registration advantage for Democrats. This will be the first time Charles Grassley has been on the statewide ballot without a registration edge.

40 - The number of days Iowans have to vote by mail, at the Auditor's office or at a satellite location.

21,900 - The number of voters who registered on election day 2008.

$204,202 - How much more individual contributions Roxanne Conlin received than Charles Grassley.

18 - Percentage drop in Senator Grassley's job approval rating over the past year.

31,000 - Number of people who signed onto Roxanne's online effort.
