Roxanne Conlin, a candidate for United States Senate, energized local supporters and activists Sunday as she made her 42nd stop on her 99-county "Fight to Fit It" tour across Iowa.
Democratic United States Senate candidate Roxanne Conlin visited local supporters and activists at the Boone County Historical Society on Friday night as part of her 99-county “Fight to Fix It” tour and pledged to offer a voice to Iowans if elected in November.
We are inundated with press releases from politicians and political causes every day. This one caught our attention for its irony: “Grassley calls for intellectual honesty about deficits, spending, entitlements.” In the body of the release, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, claims that Democrats have been writing “revisionist history” about how we reached record deficit levels.
Roxanne Conlin is talking about a dark side of her life that she has never spoken about before publicly. The Des Moines Democrat - who is seeking the U.S. Senate seat held by longtime Republican incumbent Chuck Grassley - is sharing the story of her early life as the oldest of six children in a family headed by an alcoholic and abusive father.
Roxanne Conlin said she knows what it’s like not to get a bailout. She’s gone hungry before and worn all her clothes to bed just to stay warm. She went to work at age 14 to put food on the table for her parents and five younger siblings. Conlin continued to work and go to school. She finished high school, college and law school by age 21. She’s a Democrat and now she’s running for the United States Senate seat held by Senator Charles Grassley, a Republican.
Conlin is seeking to represent Iowa in the United States Senate and makes a stop in the Heartland this weekend.
