US Senate candidates seek labor support
ALTOONA, Iowa (AP) - The three Democrats running for U.S. Senate sought the backing of a key labor group, pledging to help rebuild Iowa's economy and help the middle class.
The candidates - Roxanne Conlin, Tom Fiegen and Bob Krause - spoke separately Monday to delegates of the Iowa Federation of Labor but answered the same questions during 20 minute sessions.
Conlin, a lawyer who is far ahead of her opponents in fundraising, kept most her attention on incumbent Republican Sen. Charles Grassley, who is seeking a sixth Senate term. She argues Grassley blurs his positions on health care and other topics.
Krause and Fiegen stressed the need to repair the troubled economy.
