Roxanne Conlin went the extra mile for us

Following the suggestion in Kathie Obradovich's June 17 column to focus on a portfolio of issues between the two U.S. Senate candidates, let's take large insurance companies, big contributors to Sen. Chuck Grassley, as an example ("What Matters Is the Portfolio of Issues").

As a family faced with unending delays and denial by an insurance behemoth in providing contractual benefits for my mother for assisted living, despite an in-depth analysis featured in the Register on June 22, 2007, my siblings and I felt our only alternative was to hire an attorney.
The Iowa Insurance Division was prevented by statute from stepping in. After hearing our somewhat desperate story, Roxanne Conlin agreed to take the case.

She was there for the average family seeking only the payments due after years of paying premiums. She was efficient, thorough and, in the end, my mother is assured her bills in the nursing home where she now resides will be paid by the company as long as she lives.

Conlin's advocacy for the elderly who were/are similarly treated by their companies did not stop there as she sent an emissary to Washington, D.C., to testify before a House subcommittee regarding such unconscionable treatment shortly after the disposition of our case.
