Conlin to stop in Spencer Saturday

U.S. Senate candidate Roxanne Conlin will make an extensive weekend swing through Northwest Iowa. Conlin will stop at the Spencer Area Activity Center at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
Conlin, a Democrat, is bringing her "Fight to Fix It" tour to the city for the first time.

In addition to her Spencer stop, Conlin will speak in Le Mars, Orange City, Sheldon and Emmetsburg on Saturday. She will continue on Sunday, with tour stops scheduled in Storm Lake, Cherokee, Ida Grove and Denison.

Conlin is competing in a primary with Democrats Bob Krause and Tom Fiegen, both former state legislators.

At the age of 16, the candidate entered Drake University, working her way through college and graduating at 19 and earning her degree from Drake Law School at just 21.

She has served as an Assistant Attorney General for Iowa, and as a United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. For more than 25 years, Conlin has owned and managed a small law firm in Iowa. A successful small business, Roxanne Conlin & Associates was recently cited by a national magazine as one of the best firms to work for because of its family-friendly practices.

She was also elected the first woman President of the American Association of Justice, and selected as one of the first women in the Inner Circle of Advocates.

Conlin lives in Des Moines with her husband of 45 years, James. They have four adult children and five grandchildren.
