Tell the government to protect Deepwater Horizon cleanup workers

Right now, thousands of workers are now in the Gulf region heroically trying to clean up the mess caused by the irresponsible management of BP's offshore drilling operation.

But these brave workers aren't being given the safety equipment and training they need to protect themselves while they work tirelessly to save the region's economic engine.

Use this online form to tell the government and BP to protect their workers!

The text of the letter is below:

After the Exxon Valdez spill, thousands of clean up workers were exposed to extremely dangerous chemicals and suffered lifelong, debilitating illnesses and were exposed to extremely harmful chemicals. As terrible as that was, the oil spill in the Gulf is more than 10 times larger.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that the risks to workers involved in this cleanup effort are very well known, OSHA has not required BP to supply the workers with respirators to protect their lungs and the training on how and why to use them.

We, the undersigned, call on OSHA to require BP to ensure that all workers are given appropriate protective gear, and instructed in their use as soon as possible
